The state park is a destination in itself, but also a launching point for historic Ft. Davis, hip Marfa, and the dark skies above the McDonald Observatory.
Must-Do Experiences
This unnamed point is one of the most rewarding 10-minute hikes in Texas. Hike it for sunrise.
The top of Skyline Drive is the sunset spot, and starting place for several great trails.
For a 4.5 mile loop, hike the Old CCC Trail to the Skyline Drive Trail. Add 2-3 miles by hiking to Fort Davis Historic Site.
Visit the Emory Oak Wildlife Viewing Area, “the fanciest little bird blind in Texas.”

Campsites 45, 49 and 81 are Ranger picks for a little more privacy and shade.
Backpack on the Limpia Creek Trails to the primitive camping sites. Make sure to check out the Limpia Creek Vista
Indian Lodge is a historic hotel within the park. The original rooms are the 100-block, which have some more character.
