Must-Do Experiences
The Window Trail is the 5-mile round trip classic with this view.
Add a half-mile your Window-trail hike to the views above, off the Oak Springs Trail. Best spot for a Sunset and hiking back by headlamp or moonlight.
The Lost Mine Trail is a very rewarding 5-mile round trip with great views. The end of the first mile is also very scenic if you’re short on time.
For a big day, hike the full South Rim with a trip up to Emory Peak via Laguna Meadows and Boot Canyon trail. Stray from a trail 100 yards to get the best Sunset in Texas.
Overnight Lodging
For Chisos Mountains Backpacking East Rim sites, South rim, Colima, and Boot Canyon are all good choices a tour of the South Rim and/or hiking Emory Peak. East Rim 4 might be the best campsite in Texas - closed in Spring.

Starlight Theater Restaurant (Terlingua) - “Loved this funky old restaurant with a crazy vibe and tons of history. Get there around 4 and grab a drink and have a chat with everyone around doing the same. Get in line near the door around 445ish and have a great meal with good live tunes being played.”
Jose Falcon’s Restaurant (Boquillas, MX) - “Good food, reasonably priced, and a great view. I'd recommend everyone come over to Boquillas.” (Bring Cash for boat ride, and meals in town)
